Adam Zimmer, son of head coach Mike Zimmer, has taken over as the Vikings’ new defensive coordinator. On Jan. 13 Alex Marvez reported Zimmer was a candidate for the position. George Edwards had been the Vikings’ defensive coordinator since 2014. His contract ended after the season.

Five Minnesota Vikings were added to the NFC’s Pro Bowl roster on Tuesday, the team announced. Quarterback Kirk Cousins, fullback CJ Ham, defensive end Everson Griffen, linebacker Eric Kendricks and cornerback Xavier Rhodes were added as alternates to the all-star game. That makes eight players from the Vikings to make the 2020 Pro Bowl.

Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen was an active participant in the team’s first practice after the bye week on Tuesday. That was not the case on Wednesday.Thielen missed Wednesday’s practice because of what Courtney Cronin of ESPN referred to as a “slight scare” with his hamstring stemming from the team’s short practice on Tuesday.
With the bye week in the rearview mirror, preparations for the Vikings’ Monday Night matchup against the Seahawks began on Tuesday morning. Multiple transactions were announced by the team and with players getting back to practice, things on the injury front appeared to take shape.
