Minnesota Vikings-Chicago Bears

The Minnesota Fightin’ Vikings offensive line is Charmin soft (just ask Mike Zimmer), so I’ve taken it upon myself to fix it the best way I know how: outlandish trade scenarios. Later on in the show, friend of the program Julie DiCaro (670 The Score – Chicago) swings in for an early look at the Halloween Vikings-Bears brouhaha on Monday Night Football. I ask her if she’s looking forward to the return of Bae Cutler, could the Purple actually drop 2 in a row, and what she’ll do if her beloved Cubs actually win the World Series.

All that and more “This is Hardees territory, NOT Carl Jrs” chatter on this edition of the Purple FTW! Podcast!

Stefon Diggs a #1 receiver

Recently in the Vikings Territory writers room, the topic of Stefon Diggs came up, and to my surprise, a healthy chunk of the staff was not sold on him as a legitimate #1 wide receiver. Pardon? The hands, the speed, the razor sharp route running? The ability to chase down blatant overthrows? I’m firmly of the opinion that Diggs has everything you want in a #1 wideout, so the only option here was to throw the challenge flag and dust off the ol’ coin toss.

Adam explained how the coin toss works in this post from a few weeks ago, but basically it’s an argument between two VT writers. Simple enough. The prolific Austin Belisle volunteered to be the voice of the dissenters, and argue Diggs is NOT a #1 receiver. Here we go!

BONUS Bears-Vikings coverage this week with a special chat with show favorite Julie DiCaro (@JulieDiCaro) of 670 The Score in Chicago.

We talked about how Jay Cutler suddenly is being re-embraced by the Chicago faithful, how Vikings and Bears fans can be eerily similar, why 30-year old running back Matt Forte and 30-year old running back Adrian Peterson are extremely different, predictions for Sunday’s game, and what it’s like for Julie to be married to a diehard Minnesota Fightin’ Vikings fan.

All that and other “Clark Griswold was a Vikings fan” nonsense on this edition of the Purple FTW! Podcast!

Star Wars is a thing. And the Minnesota Fightin’ Vikings and the Chicago Bears are set to clash at TCF Bank Stadium Sunday like the Rebel Alliance and the Dark Side and the Romulans and the…. I’ve never seen Star Wars…. But Arif Hasan (@ArifHasanNFL) has! We talk about The Force as well as the Purple People Eaters as he makes his weekly stop.

We also chatted about which Vikings will make the Pro Bowl (not that the Pro Bowl matters), ask if Rick Spielman is underrated, why Linval Joseph being back is monsterous for our playoff chances, and Arif casts Vikings players as Star Wars characters. Because that’s original.

All that and other “I’ve only seen the Family Guy Star Wars….” nonsense on this edition of the Purple FTW! Podcast!

Read all of Arif’s stuff at The Daily Norseman and Vikings Journal as well as listen to his podcast Norse Code.

The Week 15 showdown between the Minnesota Fightin’ Vikings and the Chicago Windy City Bears is nigh! That’s why we had Bears blogger Jeff Hughes (@DaBearsBlog) of Da Bears Blog in to discuss how his Monsters of the Midway look to try and play spoiler against our beloved Purple who need this home win to help solidify our playoff position.

We chatted about how Jeff likes the new regime in Chicago, how new media like blogs and podcasts have an edge over traditional outlets, if Jay Cutler has turned things around, Matt Forte being on the way out, how Teddy Bridgewater can get the sour taste of Arizona out of his mouth, and how the Vikes and Bears will end up Sunday afternoon at The Bank.

All that and other “Red Red Wine Make the Vikings Feel So Fine” nonsense on this edition of the Purple FTW! Podcast!

Also, I’d rather be in the Red Wine Club than the Donut Club to be honest….
