Junior Seau

I want to start by saying Junior Seau and his family have my condolances, butI have had enough of ESPN, this is getting out of control. I majored in Sociology and took many psychology classes for college and everything in my education goes against what ESPN is saying. They are trying to blame his suicide on concussions which is ridiculous. To start, Seau(like almost every other suicide/suicide attempt) was depressed, depression is caused by a chemical imbalance in ones brain, not concussions. Around 1/10 Americans suffer from depression and will effect over 50% of people at some point through their lives. 80% of depressed people and around 95% of minorities will not seek any treatment for their depression. I could go on with many more facts but the basic point is there is NO evidence that concussions had ANY effect on Seau's suicide they are just using this to wage their war on concussions.

It just drives me crazy that espn is using a tragedy like this to drive their propoganda machine. Concussions are bad but ESPN needs to cut this shit out. Rant over

I couldn't agree more, Skol. These people get on a "brain track" that is nothing but their own theories, conjecture and speculation. When you hire entertainers instead of journalists, thats what you get. They may have some knowledge of the 3-4 defense, although not as much as they think, but when it comes to stuff like this, they totally miss the mark. For all we know, Junior may have simply had intensified depression from adjusting to life outside the limelight of the NFL. That, too, is pure speculation, so let's stop all the hype. Can we not just call it what it is, a very sad family tragedy, and then leave it alone?
