All the stars are shining too brightly in the masses eyes right now. RGIII? who says you could get a monster deal for him? At best, he is the third QB taken. Call me an old fuddy duddy here, but I still believe the best way to success is through the trenches. Sign the damn O Lineman, and quit playing madden with the draft.

Purple Faithful wrote:Oh, I think RG3 is better than Barkley, too, LeCount. What I don't like about Barkley is if you look at his stats be quarter, he's basically the anti-tebow. great the first three quarters & the last one - not so much. To be fair to him, i haven't checked out his fourth quarters this year yet, but I've never been impressed with him. RG3, on the other hand, took a team that minus him would be "right there" fighting it out for the national championship, in division III, and he brought them into Norman Oklahoma where he destroyed the Sooners .
There is a reason those teams are shitty - they didn't draft impact players, they drafted left tackles!!LeCount wrote:Purple Faithful wrote:Review the left tackles taken for the last ten years in the top 10 or so. zero rings....
There is a reason those guys dont have rings....they play for shitty teams. You still have to put the rest of the package together. Successful teams dont pick as early, and usually the top linemen are gone when they draft.
I understand your points, and good points they are.
On the other hand, wouldnt it be nice to land an Orlando Pace, Johnathan Ogden, Bruce Matthews, or an Anthony Munoz? All first round guys.
And my favorite of the bunch....Ron Yary was a first rounder (Ist overall in fact) Wouldnt hurt my feelings to have a future HOF anchor the line for a long stretch.
Not saying Kalil is a future HOF, but it does happen.

Tight end is very important in this Musgrave offense. Dual tight end threats seem to be trending upwards (Patriots). And if Rudolph gets injured who do we have behind him that should actually be playing football?

Reisner was just cut in favor of Mickey Shuler, fyi. I can't see Shiancoe coming back, though. He's gonna want to get paid & the vikes should want to play Rudolph. I'd be fine with Rudolph, Shuler, Reisner.Malte wrote:adammwarwas wrote:I disagree that tight end isn't going to be a need, Malte. Shiancoe is a free agent after this season. I see us keeping shiancoe and going with V. Shiancoe, K. Rudolph and Allen Reisner.. Perhaps we draft an inline blocking TE later in the draft, but i don't see us going TE in the first 3 rounds unless the situation is that the best TE still is there in the 3rd round.
I think we have 4 big needs: OL (both gaurd and help at tackle) secondary (both safety and corner help) WR (a typical WR is needed to give harvin some space) DL (only thinking DT / NT here)
thats how I see it. In order to have a chance to make those position a little stable we will have to trade down in the 15th + range perhaps.. Or I could see us trading down and still be able to draft martin, move c. johnson to gaurd (if he is strong enough to play there) and then start to adress everything else.

Jimmy K was ranked number 1. Number 3 was Martellus Bennett from Dallas who is due to become a free agent. He's not fitting in with Dallas playbook so it looks like they will let him go.

Jake Long - miami sucks
Joe thomas - cleveland sucks
Okung - seattle has won it's last three games with him on IR, plus they suck.
Jason Peters - st louis sucks & so does JP
Trent williams - he sucks as do the skins
tyrone smith last year's playing RT for dallas.
hey, lets look back on the greatest LT prospect of all-time! Tony Mandarich. Maybe Kalil can be that good.

Along those lines look at some of the best WRs and WRs on superbowl teams. First rounders don't equal greatness but many great receivers are drafted later.
Victor Cruz - undrafted
Wes Welker - undrafted
Steve Smith - 3rd round
Mike Wallace - 3rd round
Brandon Marshall - 4th round
All of these are in the 10 ten this year for wide outs.
My early favorite for late round steals are Jordan White from Western Michigan and Lance Lewis from Eastern Carolina. I didn't know much about White until I saw him at top of WR stats and did some digging. He was W.M's offense. As for Lewis, my son goes the South Carolina and I watch SC EC game and Lewis caught 13 passes for 2 TDs against the 2nd best pass D in the nation. He knows how to create space in man coverage and find the hole in zone.
