Episode 66 — Featuring Guest Host Sam Neumann

Graphic designed by Brett Anderson

  1. Really fun show, you guys. Couldn’t possibly pick 5 favorite Vikings. I’ve been sitting here and it just won’t go. There’s simply too many. In the spirit of your reaching back and picking out some really underappreciated guys, I’ll give you 5 more that neither of you named. Ahmad Rashād – ‘cuz he was my first favorite Viking, really – also that game winner against the Browns. Scott Studwell – the name, the number, the arm wrestling champ! Steve Jordan – had the talent to be one of the best TEs of his generation but sadly came up short because of injury. Isaac Holt/Carl Lee [Tie] – can’t pick just one of these guys! Unlike BJ, I actually think that on the whole, we have a horrible history with Corners. Between these two and the Winfield signing were some truly dark times at that position. Holt and Lee were a great pair for a few years though. And finally, Chris Walsh. Still have his jersey at home. My pal used to say that the Walsh fandom was just Minnesota-nice flavored racism (the epitome Mr. Mankato), and I’m not going to sit here and claim that he didn’t have a point. But I never doubted Walsh’s heart or his talent and think if he had played in today’s NFL, where the emphasis is on making the scheme fit the player and not the other way around, he could have been a full time starter for us. The man NEVER dropped a pass. Skol, fellas.
