Links Of The Week: Holiday Weekend Reading

American Flag

It has been awhile, but it is about time for Minnesota Vikings news, opinions, and tidbits to be floating around faster than we can keep up with via fully fleshed out articles. That means it is a great time to resurrect the “Links of the Week” feature here at Vikings Territory where we do our best to tour you around the internet in a search for all things Vikings.

Before we get started, however, I want to address two things.

First, I want to take our horn hats off to the men and women that have served, and are currently serving, our country to defend the independence that we are all celebrating this weekend. Regardless of your NFL allegiance, and yes I’m saying this even extends to Packers fans, thank you all for the sacrifices you and your families have made in order to ensure this nation can endure the hard times and also celebrate our triumphs.

Second, I want to once again point out the best link for Vikings fans to click on this summer. The interview Daniel House conducted with head coach Mike Zimmer is absolutely phenomenal and I encourage all of you to check it out. Even if you aren’t compelled to donate to the 2016 #MoreThanWords campaign, this article gives us all great insight as to who the man at the helm really is… it goes way beyond the sidelines to find out what makes the man tick.

Her are your Links of the Week:

  • Here is your best chance on the internet to win some amazing Vikings-centric prizes (game tickets!) and to support Mike Zimmer and his very worthy foundation. We’re getting very close to our goal of $10,000 and have over a full month left to go!
  • The awesome support from Fan HQ has resulted in a SOLD OUT signing event with Coach Zimmer, but there is more to come from them as they plan to continue their support of #MoreThanWords campaign. For now, however, we would like to simply point out that they are offering a chance to meet another big name in the Vikings world in Robert Smith.
  • The additions of young cornerbacks Mackensie Alexander and Trae Waynes in the two most recent drafts mean that the Vikings can very likely let Captain Munnerlyn set up camp in the slot… where he is one of the NFL’s best.
  • Arif Hasan tore apart the world of running back stats to help determine just where Jerick McKinnon could end up ranking in coming NFL seasons.
  • This article is getting a little old, but nothing has really happened to cause it to be outdated, so check out our friends at Draft Season trying to predict the Vikings final 53-man roster.
  • The “Day to REACH Football Camp” will soon be hosted by Chad Greenway and all of the details are available here.
  • There are more than one reason to be optimistic about what the Vikings offense could possibly do in 2016.
  • Any time you say Teddy Bridgewater is a franchise quarterback, or if you say he isn’t, be prepared to defend yourself from those that strongly disagree.
  • Cornerback is perhaps going to be the toughest training camp battle that we’ll all be obsessing over very, very soon.
  • The Vikings have waded a little deeper into the analytics pool with a recent hire.
  • Vikings rookie Mackensie Alexander has received a day in his own honor in his hometown.
  • Troy Williamson’s name has been back in the news lately for some fantasy football takes and some harsh words about former Vikings head coach Brad Childress.
  • Duron Carter couldn’t make things work with the Vikings, or in the NFL at all, and recent actions are showing one of the biggest concerns about him to be validated.
  • The legendary Sid Hartman will be honored in a big way within the walls of the new US Bank Stadium.
  • Can Adrian Peterson be the leads leading rusher once again in 2016? It is a question worth asking.
  • Cornerback Jabari Price is covering a lot of ground this summer.
  • The NFL is putting a whole ton of classic NFL games on YouTube and three of them will be Vikings games.
  • Cordarrelle Patterson is talking a lot lately, and Vikings fans have their reasons for doubting him, but what he is saying is at least encouraging.
  • Pro Football Focus recently listed the five worst tight end contracts in the NFL and a Vikings player made the list.
