LINKS OF THE WEEK: Vikings Football Is Almost Here

I spent the last week or so in the great state of Alaska, and while I wish I were still catching salmon I can’t overstate how excited I am for this upcoming week of NFL football. More specifically, I am stoked to see how Mike Zimmer’s Vikings perform against the beleaguered San Francisco 49ers under the bright lights on Monday night.

I need to catch up on my Vikings reading and, following the holiday weekend, you may need some catching up yourself.

If that is the case, then fear not, we have all the links!

  • An assortment of positive and negative takeaways from the Vikings 4-1 preseason performance.
  • An in-depth look at the final (for now) 53-man roster heading into the regular season.
  • The release of David Yankey and Michael Mauti did not surprise everybody.
  • An unsettled offensive line continues to top the list of concerns for even the most optimistic among us.
  • Gerald Hodges and Robert Blanton will begin this season as starters on defense.
  • A final record of 10-6 seems to be a popular prediction for Vikings fans these days.
  • A different way, or a number of different ways, of gauging the impact of Harrison Smith when he is on the field.
  • Cornerback Trae Waynes is on a top ten list for most underwhelming rookies throughout the preseason.
  • Marcus Sherels is the gift that just keeps on giving for the Minnesota Vikings.
  • Even if he has an average season, getting Adrian Peterson back to form should help this squad succeed.
  • Backup center Zac Kerin could end up playing an important role if John Sullivan’s injury continues to linger.
  • Trae Waynes is expecting a few butterflies as his NFL career gets started in prime time.
  • Norv Turner may not be one to rely on a fullback on a full time basis, but he doesn’t want to be stuck without one.
  • All of the 2013 Minnesota Vikings quarterback group is currently looking to land jobs in the NFL.
  • One local writer gives a very detailed prediction for the upcoming schedule which results in a 9-7 record.
  • Wide out Mike Wallace says he has always been a great pro despite what the national narrative suggests.
  • Xavier Rhodes is ready for a test this weekend in the form of Anquan Boldin and Torrey Smith on the road.
  • A snapshot of which matchups the Vikings may be able to exploit in Week One.
  • And now, your moment of Zen:
