2014 Minnesota Vikings: Adrian Peterson’s Court Date, Injury Report

A tentative court date for Adrian Peterson’s trial in reckless or neglectful injury to a child has been set, December 1 of this year. District Attorney Brett Ligon said he understands moving up the trial for logistical reasons. That date has not been set in stone, and can move further up if  other cases earlier on the docket are moved up. His lawyer Rusty Hardin wants the trial to be moved to November 18.

It can also be moved down, as the DA is asking Judge Case to be recused for calling both sides “media whores”.

In this case, I would not be surprised if the prosecutor gets the recusal he seeks. The judge has not asked for a plea from Adrian Peterson today, but he intended to plea “not guilty,” eliminating the possibility of a plea bargain. delaying any potential plea bargain.

Recusal may end up in the hands of Chief Judge Oren Underwood;

As for other Vikings players, there’s good news. Injury Report thus far:

NAME POSITION INJURY WEDNESDAY PRACTICE
Mauti, Michael LB Foot Full Participant
McKinnon, Jerick RB Ankle Full Participant
Bridgewater, Teddy QB Ankle Full Participant
Asiata, Matt RB Groin Full Participant
Patterson, Cordarrelle WR Hip Limited Participation
Floyd, Sharrif DT Elbow Limited Participation
Smith, Harrison FS Ankle Did Not Participate
Greenway, Chad LB Hand/Rib Did Not Participate
Rudolph, Kyle TE Abdomen Did Not Participate

The Vikings website does not list status (Probable, Questionable, Doubtful or Out), and ESPN’s injury report is both odd and incomplete, so I simply didn’t list them.

Minnesota is confident that Teddy Bridgewater will play and he “looks good,” according to Mike Zimmer.

Though Harrison Smith didn’t participate in practice, he did not look bothered by his ankle injury in conditioning work, per Brian Hall. He is expected to be in the lineup. Greenway may not play, though Zimmer has told the media “he’s getting closer.” It sounds unlikely, because the prospect of him practicing at all this week seemed up in the air.

Jarius Wright returned from practice after dealing with a personal matter. The two players with limited participation (Patterson and Floyd) are expected to go on Sunday.

There’s a good chance that Lions receiver Calvin Johnson and running back Reggie Bush miss the game.
